The Luminaries Present: Private Architectural Tour of LondonHouse Chicago
NOTE: TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT FOR THIS EVENT. If you would like to be added to a short waiting list, please email us at info@classicistchicago.org
The Luminaries are the ICAA Chicagos Young Professionals group for emerging architects, designers, artists, and craftspeople.
Join us to learn about the history and story behind the adaptive reuse of LondonHouse Chicago. The London Guarantee and Accident Building is a 23-story, Beaux Arts landmark building built in 1923 along the Chicago River at Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. The construction of an adjacent, modernist infill glass tower began in 2014, and today, the combined buildings serve as LondonHouse Chicago, a 452-room luxury hotel.
This exclusive tour will be led by Len Koroski, FAIA, LEED AP, Principal and Senior Project Architect at Goettsch Partners, the firm responsible for this architectural transformation. Mr. Koroski is an expert in historically sensitive projects and has worked on iconic Chicago properties such as the Wrigley Building, Jewelers Building, Civic Opera Building, and Union Station.
The LondonHouse Chicago has been awarded the prestigious Richard H. Driehaus Preservation Award for Adaptive Use, and Preservation Award for Adaptive Use by Landmarks Illinois.
This one-hour educational tour will be followed by a sponsored cocktail hour.
Space is limited to the first 25 responders.
