Persephone Rising: Tales from a Pomegranate
Kikimora Collective presents an intimate immersive dining experience at the historic Reed House in Smyrna, GA.

Audience members will journey from the underworld to a lavish feasting hall where they are welcomed as attendees at a yearly banquet thrown by the goddess Demeter in honor of her daughter Persephone's return. As with many family parties, this one is full of rivalries and old grudges, but also lots of love and a desire to enjoy time spent together and of course this party is filled with divine mischief and magic.

This event will incorporate theater, dance, live music, interactive art installations, fire sculpture, seasonal dishes, and craft cocktails. Food and drink provided by Wade's of Smyrna, fire sculptures by Flamewerx, and live music by Dr. Anonymous and When Ukuleles Attack.

Please note: This event is 21+ only.

______

let us answer some Frequently Asked Questions!

1. What is a Kikimora?

A Kikimora is a mischievous house spirit from Slavic mythologylike a hob or a brownie. We identify with her troublemaking tendencies & are looking to spread mischief & all the best trouble around the Atlanta-area.

2. What should I expect at an immersive dining experience?

Expect the unexpected! We will be taking you on a journey from the underworld to a feast hosted by Demeter, celebrating the return of her daughter Persephone & with her the return of spring. Youll be a guest at the party, free to mingle & explore. There will be elements of theater & dance, live music, interactive art installations, fire art installations, delicious libations & food, & many surprises. This experience is different from traditional dinner theater, in that you are not just watching the events of a play unfold, & the audiences choices will affect how the story progresses as well as certain outcomes.

3. Where & what is the Reed House?

Smyrna, Georgias historic Reed House (circa 1910) sits on 3.6 acres of landscaped property. At more than 4,500 square feet, the stunning two story home is considered to be a combination of Queen Ann and Arts & Crafts styles of architecture. Designed by the world renowned architect Leila Ross Wilburn, among its many unique features are a large 50 x 15 front porch, a distinctive porte-cochere (drive-under carriage gate), numerous leaded glass windows, oak paneled interior walls, window seats & much more.

That front porch, though. Seriously. We kind of just want to live on the porch, forever. The Reed House is available to rent for events! It would be an absolutely lovely place for a wedding ceremony

4. Do I need a costume?

We would LOVE to see you dressed in your divine best. This would be a great time to wear a costume, a ball gown, a mask. Whatever makes you feel the most wonderfully & elegantly amazing. Be your best self!

5. Will the performers talk to me?

Yes, they also might dance with you, bring you surprises, tell your future, or even ask for your help

6. Is this that audience participation stuff? Will it be scary? Will I be singled out & embarrassed?

All interaction is offered, not demanded. All audience members of course have control of what they do & do not consent to. We promise to do our best not to scare you or embarrass you. At the very most there will be light physical contact, think a hand on a shoulder

7. What about the food?

Food & drink will be provided by the awesomely audacious Wades of Smyrna. The menu for our event includes:
Lamb or watermelon tartare, tuna tataki, Greek salad, spanakopita, pastitsio, & for dessert lemon cake with Greek mint coulis & yogurt. Yesssss.

8. What about drinks?

Two adult beverages are included in the price of the ticket! This is why this is a 21+ event. If you do not drink alcohol we will be sure to make you something fancy & special instead, but you probably shouldnt partake of anything the gods might offer you directly, as that offering will probably contain booze

9. What about dietary restrictions?

Please contact us!

10. What are VIP tickets?

VIP tickets are just that: you will be a very important person to Demeter & her retinue. VIPs are sat at the head table, & receive extra surprises, songs, a special treat from Dionysus & more. VIP tickets are also very limited! Dont delay if  being very important is something you desire. Once these tickets are gone, they are gone.

11. Is your event wheelchair-accessible? Will I be able to sit if I need to before the dinner?

When the beautiful Reed House was renovated in 2017 it was brought into ADA compliance, & as such our event is wheelchair-accessible. There will be seating available for the first part of the evening for guests who would prefer to sit & of course dinner is seated.

12. Who else has helped Kikimora Collective with this endeavor?

We would like to thank our friends at the Old Smyrna Firehouse, Flamewerx, & the Indie Art Alliance especially. I am sure we will have many more folks to thank as time goes along.

13. May I take photographs at the event?

Yes, please! & share them to social media & tag us! but do make sure if you catch other guests in your snap that you make sure they are ok with the photo before you share it. @kikimoracollective #kikimoracollective

14. May I bring my pet along?

Please leave any pets at home. Service animals, excepted.

15. Will there be strobe lights or any other intense effects?

There will not be strobe lights in use, but there will be a bit of water-based haze.

16. What if it rains?

Persephone Rising: Tales from a Pomegranate is a rain or shine event.
