Gina Stahlnecker: "Heart for Hart"
Exploring the songs of Richard Rodgers and Lorentz Hart, with special attention to Hart's lyrics. Hart's use of rhymes and rhythms, comedy, language, love, drama. Hart never ceased the use of language; New Yorkese of the early 20th century, Elizabethan English to incorporate within his work; his life, the world's conditions and, his vast knowledge of everything, giving his lyrics that special edge. Artists across the World perform his works today; My Funny Valentine, Where or When, Bewitched, are some of Hart and Rodgers songs that are considerd "Standards"! And a look into the sad life and death of Lorentz Hart, leaves one to wonder how much more would he have produced had he not died at 47?
