Coolship Freeze-Out Party
Get ready for a revolution! Join us on March 18 for the maiden voyage of City Barrels Coolship, which will help us navigate the icy waters of spontaneous fermentation.
What is a Coolship? A Coolship is an open-top, flat fermentation vessel, traditionally used in Belgian brewing. A Coolship cools the wort by allowing it to be exposed to the open air, which has naturally occurring spontaneous yeast.
We invite you be part of something truly local by contributing to the natural yeast that will create this unique beer. How can you help us do that? By buying a ticket ($10 - which includes your first drink/beer) and being part of the air that will create the natural spontaneous yeast.
Brewing a Coolship beer is a voyage, so we recreated the painting that depicts one of Americas most famous voyages -- Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze. Please note that when we say open air -- we mean it. Our garage doors will be open to help with the process, so dress warm! Nautically inspired apparel is strongly encouraged (Captain's hats, Ascots, that sort of thing).
We hope you can join us March 18 and be a part of something Kansas City has never seen.
*Important Note: This is a weather-dependent event. If the overnight temperature is not between 20-40 degrees we will have to reschedule.
