Each month, the Maine Songwriters Association presents Songwriters on Stage, a showcase of some of the best songwriters Maine has to offer. The show typically features three seasoned performers and an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. Its an opportunity for listeners to discover new music or come hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. The April concert will feature three seasoned performers: Stan Keach, Ted DeMille, and Rick Lang.
Stan Keachs original songs have been recorded by world-famous bluegrass bands including Whispering Waters. Stans band, the Sandy River Ramblers, have been one of the busiest and most popular Maine bluegrass bands since 1982. Keach won the 2018 Maine Songwriters Association Song of the Year contest.
Ted DeMille is a singer/songwriter known for his deceptively simple songs in the roots music genres. Drawing from time tested folk themes and melodies, the ancient tones and tales of bluegrass, and the contemporary narrative of Americana, Ted weaves a captivating spell of words and music delivered with a relaxed confidence.
Rick Lang is an award winning songwriter whose songs have been covered by some of the top names in Bluegrass, Gospel and Country Music. He draws mostly from real life experience, the New England Seacoast being a heavy influence. An album reviewer writes Rick is a master songwriter and storyteller who simply has a remarkable gift of his craft.
