Los Angeles Dance Festival 2019
A true snapshot of place and time. LADF represents the city- people from so many different ways of living and cultures and counties make art in their voices.
The Los Angeles Dance Festival is a month long festival of contemporary dance in Los Angeles. The festival activates the landscape of LA with performances and classes over four weekends every spring. This festival captures the artistic creations of LA based choreographers using art to shape and define what it means inhabit LA. Main Stage performances by the leading companies in LA. With 6-8 companies each of the 3-4 nights, with at least one site-specific work each day, and visual arts and a gala reception Fringe showcases by choreographers in development. Includes companies in development, student or youth groups Professional level master classes by the artistic directors of the companies 20-40 advanced master classes for the professional community Free community open level classes around LA Bringing dance to a wide range of communities in the region Site Specific performances Included in the Main Stage performance Exhibition of visual art related to dance Included in the main stage performance to enrich the interconnection of art forms Local company auditions Offering dancers an opportunity to connect with a number of companies in a single site on the same day for free auditions.
LADF @ the Luckman Theater will also feature LA Dance Photography exhibit and pre- show performances by some of the pre-professional students we train in our colleges and high schools. LADF Fringe @ Diavolo Space will host the Seoul International Dance Festival as 4 choreographers are visiting LA.
