The Rodstol Lane Farm Living Room Show
Paul Hiraga is the singer and songwriter for Downpilot. Downpilot is an American indie rock band who released several critically lauded albums in the U.S. in the mid-2000s before finding European success in the early 2010's recording for Germany's Tapete Records. On albums like 'New Great Lakes' and 'Radio Ghost' Downpilot's graceful, languid music is informed by elements of folk, slowcore, and modern psychedelia, with Hiraga's personal but impressionistic lyrics reinforced by the group's calm yet powerful soundscapes.
Miguel Salas cut his musical teeth on Toronto's Queen street music scene playing shows with artists Blue Rodeo, Bare Naked Ladies, Lori Yates and Ron Sexsmith. An appreciation for alt country sounds prompted a move to Hollywood where he found a unique gig rehearsing Dwight Yoakam's band for his "This Time" tour. With support from local artists like Billy Block, Pete Anderson and Rosie Flores, Salas was able to land a deal on Asylum Records with Kyle Lehning producing. A move to Nashville offered the opportunity to become part of the Nashville songwriting machine. Music industry pioneer Ilene Berns signed Salas as a staff writer for WEB IV music and as an recording artist on Bang! records. Currently living in Seattle, he has recorded and played with acclaimed songwriter Zoe Muth. With the release of "Miguel Salas and the Lowrollers" Salas returns to his alt country roots with an edgy "off the floor" recording featuring Kim Deschamps and Paul Hiraga.
