The Music Between Us
Performed by the San Fernando Valley Master Chorale
The Music Between Us: choral sounds from around the world was derived from one of the pieces being performed on this concert the first movement from a recently composed piece entitled This Love Between Us: Prayers for Unity. The piece in its entirety is seven movements, each movement representing a form of religion present in current day India. The movements sound very different, but the message is the samewe are one. I wanted to expand the concept of that piece into an entire concert, featuring a collection of substantial choral arrangements of traditional music from countries around the world. Music is a way humans can connect beyond language boundaries, political boundaries, cultural boundaries, any boundaries. Music, in all its diverse forms of expression, is one of the strongest unifying forces known to humanity. Join us for a whirlwind trip around the world with the voices of your very own San Fernando Valley Master Chorale! Composers featured: Eric Whitacre, Shawn Kirchner, Sergio Barer, Sydney Guillaume, Paul Hindemith, and more!
