Madeline McNeill with Strange and the Familiars
Stephanie Strange has a problem. Her cat wont stop talking to her. Neither will spiders, or trees, or ghosts. From the outside she looks like a normal person, but she cant shake the voices that whisper stories in her ear, from this world and beyond. The spider outside of her house whispers the consequences of a world run by humans. Her cat skulks through her sleep, flipping her serious sass and fighting nightmare demons. An unassuming goldfish wonders how she found herself on a rollercoaster A healthy dose of humor and sensuality weave through the haunting music of Strange & the Familiars. After all, if one is burdened with sharing the stories from beyond the veil, one must have a sense of humor about it.
PsstStrange & the Familiars is in town, and they have something to tell you.
Madeline McNeill is an opera singer and philosopher. An operatic thinker. She performs opera arias accompanying herself on guitar, then some jazz to lighten or darken the mood, interspersed with poetry and prose on art, culture and visions for the future. Ten years ago Madeline created body philosophy, combining opera training with other breath modalities like yoga and meditation to investigate how core musclesmuscles of the torso, neck and headcontribute to shaping emotions and self. Her performances create an intellectual space of passion and wit without shying from the sensual and emotional.
