MBAA JAZZ A FIRE MARCH 2019
The Memphis Black Arts Alliance has been delighted to present some of the BEST artist in the Greater Memphis area and beyond at Jazz-A-F!RE, held Every 4th Sunday of the month from 4-7pm at the Beautiful Brinson's Restaurant & Lounge, located at 341 Madison Avenue, Downtown Memphis. March 24th, we continue celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of Memphis area Living Legends with non-other than DR. ALVIN MCKINNEY!!!
Dr. Alvin McKinney is an International Virtuoso Alto Saxophonist, song writer/composer, arranger, producer, music director and Educator!Beginning at the age of 12, this Award Winning musical genius traveled throughout the world, playing with noted musicians such as B.B. King, Lou Rawls, Billy Preston, Kirk Whalum, Darius McCrary, Syretta Wrightand more. He is a graduate from the University of Memphis with graduate studies from the University of Michigan and the Global Evangelical Christian College and Seminary in Wetumpka, Alabama. He has Headlined at the most popular House of Blues in Los Angeles, in Barbados receiving the International Human Rights Award, and played in Washington DC, for our Former President, Barak Obama. His CD Release, A Spiritual Journey, featuring his hit rendition of Amazing Grace, is a Gospel Jazz presentation that promotes healing, peace, love and joy. Dr. Alvin and his music is currently celebrated in more than 10 different countries throughout the world and now, we are honored to celebrate him right here at home!
Memphis Black Arts Alliances Jazz-A-F!RE is hosted by the Spectacular Cequita Monique along with the cool sounds of Prime Cut Trio, as they usher us into the land of Smooth Jazz! Our Living Legends Honorees croon us further up the road and then we end the evening by inviting you, our audience, to join the band on stage in our BYOI (Bring Your Own Instrument) full-out jam session! There is nothing in the city like Jazz-A-F!RE!
