30th Annual Bungalow Heaven Home Tour
Come and spend a day strolling down tree-lined streets, viewing historic homes and munching on homemade cookies. On April 28th, you can do just that in Pasadenas first Historic Landmark District, Bungalow Heaven, located off Orange Grove Blvd. just east of N. Lake Ave. This cozy neighborhood is home to hundreds of Craftsman homes, constructed between 1905 and 1925. The Arts & Crafts architecture reflected a movement away from the ornate Victorian style to simpler structures in harmony with nature. Materials such as river rock and redwood shingles were commonly used in constructing these unique homes, which typically include front porches, wide windows and interior details of wood, tile and glass.
The annual Home Tour invites visitors into 8 homes to enjoy docent-led commentaries about the homes architectural details and history. Your tour map will highlight areas with restoration demonstrations, music entertainment, items of Craftsman interest, as well as stations of Bungalow Heavens famous complimentary homemade cookies, and lemonade. Multiple food trucks will be on hand from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM for visitors who wish to purchase lunch. The Bungalow Heaven Home Tour offers a 45-minute docent-led bus tour of the Landmark District architecture for $10 per person in advance ($15 the day of the tour). An added feature this year is a 10:00 AM bus tour that showcases one designer and their signature details. Our 2nd edition cookbook, At Home With Bungalow Heaven Cookies, will be available for purchase and includes recipes for the most popular cookies available on the tour. A silent auction and/or ticketed raffle will take place at McDonald Park giving visitors a chance to win beautiful Arts and Crafts related items. You can remember your Bungalow Heaven experience with logo decorated items purchased at our mercantile stand.
