Organizations and companies are increasingly using documentary storytelling and techniques to communicate internally and with their communities. This workshop is designed for professionals who would like to be able to effectively create and plan informational videos in their work. The processes for making a great documentary can be applied to institutional storytelling and information sharing. In this four week workshop (12 instructional hours) you will learn how to do pre-production planning for a successful shoot, practice camera and light operation, and cover fundamentals for recording professional looking footage and sound. You will also create a concept pitch and pre-production guide for a potential video you would produce, and learn how to work with an editor to get the result you want on time and on budget. This workshop will introduce you to editing concepts and best practices through example films, but does not cover the technical and software aspects of editing. If you are interested in learning editing, we have four-week introductory editing workshops available as well.
Equipment: All needed equipment is provided for use during the workshop and are available for rent to workshop participants. Feel free to bring your own gear as well!
