CotFG: Duane Pitre at Tiny Park
Duane Pitre is an American avant-garde composer, performer, and sound artist currently based in New Orleans, LA. His work often focuses on chaos and discipline, site-specificity and alternate tuning schemes that utilize microtonality. He has created works for various instrumentation configurations such as string orchestra, his own bowed harmonic-guitar ensemble, string/wind ensembles, as well as solo works for himself.
For his July 6th show at Tiny Park Gallery, Pitre will perform an "electronic" solo set which will use themes and elements from "Bridges," his new album out next month on Important Records, in conjunction with brand-new material that utilizes analog synthesizers (retuned in Just Intonation) and probability-based systems controlled via laptop. His solo set-up also consists of boutique controllers made by Austin's own Livid Instruments. The performance will also have a visual element, in the form of video projections.
