ZODIAC
In December, 1968, an unknown person shot and killed two victims in Northern California, and would continue to kill, terrorizing the region and confounding authorities well into the 1970s. To this day, the Zodiac case remains open in Napa County and the city of Riverside, CA.
Using his meticulous approach to filmmaking, director David Fincher released what may be his masterpiece, Zodiac, in 2007. The film follows San Francisco Chronicle cartoonist Robert Graysmiths obsessive quest to identify the killer. Fincher recreates with astonishing detail San Francisco of the late 1960s and early 1970s, as well as the dogged attempts by Graysmith, police, and journalists to solve the case. As critic Roger Ebert wrote, Zodiac is the All The Presidents Men of serial killer movies. David Shire (who also scored Presidents Men) wrote the music, incorporating Charles Ives The Unanswered Question.
