St. Patrick's Night at the Rocky Mountain Folk Club
The Rocky Mountain Folk club presents St Patrick's Night with David Morrissey and Sonas, with an opening set by Horizon Ridge. Join us for a rousing evening of celtic songs and music played with passion and energy! David Morrissey hails from County Kildare, Ireland, but now lives in Calgary. He began his musical career in rock bands, but traditional music soon took over! A fine proponent of open DADGAD tuning, and inspired by the likes of Planxty and the Bothy Band, Dave has developed a rhythmic & percussive style of playing which has been described as the engine of sessions. Dave has performed with some of the top names in Irish music such as Frankie Gavin and Maurice Lennon. If you've ever seen him at sessions at The Oak Tree or Molly Malone's you'll know you're in for a great night! He is joined by Sonas, pronounces "sunnis" and meaning happiness in Irish. Sonas features Emily Kirwan on fiddle; Dan Mills on flute, fiddle, whistles and vocals; Graham Wells on accordion and vocals, and Dave on guitar and tenor banjo. Buy your tickets early - this is always our most popular night of the year!
