Noché del Warhol
For your consideration we offer four locally made documentary films:

21st Century LP
(2008) RT 22 min -
Kate Kaminski + Betsy Carson

In a digital world, there are some places where records still rule. 21st Century LP is the inspiring story of Bob Wirtz and Enterprise Records, where the LPs spin and characters congregate to dig for musical gold.

New England Synthesizer Museum
(2000) RT 25 min
David Camlin

Dave Wilson, curator of the New England Synthesizer Museum, wades through disassembled keyboard parts while giving a tour of his prized analog synthesizer collection. The setting is a synth enthusiast's fever dream where passion and proclivity lead to an unyielding obsession.

Good News
(2108) RT 13 min
Christoph Gelfand + Caroline Losneck

Good News is the story of Edgar Gatto, owner of Good News Thrift shopa place where conflicts in America play out around politics and poverty, homelessness, opioid addiction, and cities in transition. Gattos role in the neighborhood is a defacto social service, where he routinely provides a safe haven for those less fortunate. But the imminent redevelopment of the neighborhood, along with Gatto's own strong opinions, threatens to upset the balance.

Vinyl Creeps
(2018) RT 22 min
Jeff Day

Why records? That is the question. In the Spring of 2017, filmmakers and exhausted new Dads Jeff Day, Mike Hadley, and Justin Lacroix had one location-packed day to interview guys in their basements, living rooms, and studios to learn why an arguably obsolete music format brings such joy. Through an unabashed series of interviews paired with an exclusive unauthorized soundtrack, varying testimonies of the "vinyl experience" are elaborately shared by seven local enthusiasts.

--> All proceeds of this event will be COMBINED with AND generously matched by The Midcoast School of Music to generate scholarships & grants for deserving kids! We are giving it all away to the KIDS, Man! THE KIDS! <--

Filmmaker info:

Kate Kaminski and Betsy Carson (Gitgo Productions) have been collaborating on film projects since 1994. Four DIY feature films and dozens of short documentary and narrative films later, they have worked with many of the most talented crew, people, and actors in Maine, and have screened their works across the globe. Their made-in-Maine 53 episode improv comedy web-series "Willard Beach" ran from 2009-2010 and features many local luminaries. Kaminski is currently an adjunct faculty member at University of Southern Maine and Maine College of Art, teaching film studies, screenwriting, social media, and visual storytelling. Carson is employed as a real estate sales agent at Coldwell Banker in Cape Elizabeth. They reside in South Portland, Maine with their two pups, Truman Capote and Harper Lee.

David Camlin is a Producer and Editor for 7 Cylinders Studio and has had a lifelong interest in obsessive collectors. As far as Camlin is concerned, there's a fine line between passion and mania, and the blurrier the better. Produced in 2000 with a redux edit in 2005, The New England Synthesizer Museum is one of Camlin's first films, and the museum's curator David Wilson remains one of his favorite subjects to this day.

Christoph Gelfand is an award-winning director, writer, and video artist. He was trained on celluloid at The State University of New York at Purchase where he learned the importance of each frame. His short documentary, Chasing Buckner (2006), portrayed the rise and fall of infamous baseball goat, Bill Buckner, and received praise from ESPN, The Boston Globe, and New Hampshire Public Radio. His short documentary Farm (2014) has received national acclaim and was profiled extensively in HD Video Pro magazine. A recent short film, Diving for Scallops, was featured in the New York Times Op-Docs series. Christoph strives to create work that shows the passion, humor, sadness, and vitality of people and their environments.

Caroline Losneck is an independent documentarian, radio producer, installation artist and filmmaker based in Portland, Maine. She seeks out off-the-radar venues for her documentary workfrom buildings slated for demolition, public parks, and flooded city streets, to empty campgrounds and film festivals. As an independent producer, Carolines radio work has been featured on NPR, Marketplace, BBC, Maine Public Radio, and WMPG Community Radio. Her documentary film work has been featured in the New York Times, Camden Film International Film Festival, and other festivals. She has received Maine Arts Commission and Warhol Foundation/Kindling Fund grants for her film and installation work. Caroline considers a microphone a pretty good way to learn about people and places.

Jeffrey Day is a Dad, Piano Mover, and Filmmaker living in Portland, Maine. He is currently at work on the post production of "Wheel It Hard!", a feature-length rollerskating comedy filmed in Maine.
