ElvViking Fun Fest

3/22 The fun begins Friday night with a medieval-style, contemplative candlelight service: This Natt På Elven (Night on the River) event will be held in our peaceful little village of Nelsonville in the church on the hill. The ancient sounds of nyckelarpe, fiddle, flute, and chant will add contemplative richness to the experience. The waters of peace flow into our tomorrows.

3/23 The fun continues on Saturday afternoon and evening in the outbuilding of our very own Central Waters Brewery. Viking re-enactors River Ravens will travel to the Tomorrow River from all around the midwest to set up camp, demonstrate their craft and show off their wares: woodcarving, leatherwork, textiles, weapons, jewelry, silverwork, stone carving, singing, and battle demonstrations. The demonstrations will run from 2pm-6pm. The ElvViking Feast follows at 5:30 for individuals aged 12 and up, featuring Elk Roast, Scandinavian Meatballs, Venison Sausage, Smoked Fish, and Root Vegetables, all served in a medieval, rustic style. The River Raven Vikings will be joining our feast. Two Scandinavian stringed instrument artists, Vidar Skrede from Norway and Renee Vaughn, will present musical sets. Two viking storytellers will share their craft in our gathering: Kari Tauring, woman of the ancient staff, and Adrian Spendlow, who hails from England. Who knows what wisdom and nonsense will show up?
