Tequio Rising: A Fundraiser for Indigenous Youth in Higher Education
The Mexican Consulate
Oxnard, CA
Share this event:

Join Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) and the Tequio Scholarship Committee in supporting indigenous scholars in achieving higher education.

Come enjoy live music, delicious appetizers, and hear from the students themselves!

All proceeds will benefit 2019 Tequio Scholarships.

Established in 2012 to inspire and encourage academic success in the indigenous community, the Tequio Scholarship Fund provides individual grants and ongoing support to college students from Ventura County who are of Mixtec or indigenous Mexican roots. The term "Tequio" describes an indigenous person's desire and obligation to assist their community. We provide these grants in the spirit of Tequio, and we seek to support highly motivated students who share this commitment to serve the indigenous community. As you climb, may you lift your community with you.

If you would like to explore sponsorship opportunities, please contact Genevieve Flores-Haro at genevieve.flores-haro@mixteco.org or (805) 302-1912.

If you prefer to pay by check, please purchase tickets at $40/ticket and make the check out to MICOP with a note of the names of registered guests.  Checks can be sent to
