Hollywood Heritage and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Present: At Home And On The Road With Gypsy Rose Lee
On Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 at 7:30PM Hollywood Heritage and The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will present "At Home And On The Road With Gypsy Rose Lee" at the Lasky-DeMille Barn. The event will kick-off the 2019 TCM Film Festival which opens in Hollywood the following day.
When your mother is the worlds most famous striptease artist, your life is far from ordinary! As soon as he was old enough to hold a camera, Erik Lee Preminger was set with the task of recording his mothers remarkable life. Whatever adventure Gypsy embarked upon, Erik was there with his camera. These home movies have been edited by Erik into a film of Gypsy's stage performances, behind the scenes of her movie sets, life at home in their New York mansion, a tour through Europe in her Rolls Royce with her numerous pets and rare footage of her interacting with celebrities and stars. Mr. Preminger will provide live narration during the screening.
Our special guest will be Dita Von Teese, who grew up fascinated by the Golden Age of Cinema, pin-up imagery, and vintage lingerie. This naturally blond, mid-western girl transformed herself into a glamour girl like those she admired. Performing striptease since 1992, she is the biggest name in burlesque in the world since Gypsy Rose Lee and is credited with bringing the art form back into the spotlight with a new sense of elegance and sophistication.
Following the screening, Ms. Von Teese will participate in a Q&A with Preminger, who will also be signing copies of his book "Gypsy & Me". Plus caterer Debbie Kimball will be selling a delicious selection of food items before the show... so come hungry!
Please note, the 7:30PM show is SOLD OUT. However, due to popular demand we have added a second show at 9:30PM. To reserve tickets for this show please click on the drop down menu above where the date appears and select the 9:30PM start time. We will begin the second show as soon as the first show lets out. Thank you in advance for your patience during the transition!
