"Astronomy for Kids" book signing event with Dr. Bruce Betts of The Planetary Society
About the event:
Come to the Wright Auditorium of the Pasadena Central Library for an afternoon of learning, observation, and fun. Planetary Radio podcast host Mat Kaplan will join Dr. Betts in sharing the fun of looking up, whether it be with a telescope, binoculars, or just your very own eyes.
This event is free, but we ask that you register as seating is limited. Light refreshments will be served, and after the program, Planetary Society volunteers will demonstrate solar telescope viewing on the lawn below the Auditorium to observe objects in the day sky.
Copies of the book will be available on site from Once Upon A Time Bookstore, and Dr. Betts will be signing purchased books after the presentation.
About the book:
For decades, The Planetary Society's Dr. Bruce Betts has been sharing easy things to see in the night sky with the public. You may have heard his weekly segment on Planetary Radio or have read his regular column "What's Up?" in The Planetary Report.
Writing "Astronomy for Kids" was an obvious follow-on for Dr. Betts, an opportunity to not only dive into this topic more completely but also to encourage young observers to get to know the night sky. Although it's written for kids, Dr. Betts hopes it also will serve as a good intro for parents and anyone else curious about the night sky.
