Rock N Roll Woman Featuring: Chix + Axe
Tucky Parkis and Val Kinzler have been dubbed the Thelma & Louise of rock, soul and punkabilly. They sing songs of survival and empowerment paying tribute to other female inspirations along the road "breast travelled!"
These women will share the stories behind the songs from their #Roadkill journals as fierce NYC Women who Rock. They will have you smiling through your tears relieved that "Thank Gawd!" they lived to testify! Kentucky Parkis, bassist and vocalist is a spiritually sanctified musician who regularly attends church to perform with a live gospel choir. She's also a sweet and sassy honey haired honky tonk gal who will steal your heart away! Valkyrie Von Kinzler is a self described Rock N Roll woman. Often referred to as the female version of Axel Rose with a chaser of Janis Joplin, her award winning, catchy songs about NYC, the trials and tribulations of being a Mom and falling in love with Mr. Wrong for all the right reasons will resonate with your heart of hearing. This event is held on International Women's Day 2019 marking the one year anniversary of #Chixnaxe!
Chickopedia: A brief "Herstory" of Chix + Axe. On March 8th, 2018 at the Red Lion in NYC, Val organized the seventh of her women's empowerment events for New York City Women Who Rock. This event was titled: Chix + Axe. It was here that she and Tucky (aka Kentucky Parkis) joined forces musically alongside, drummer Tami Johnson and former Moon Goddess Band member Violizzy. Since then, these women have played many a gig on the road "breast travelled!" to adoring fans regularly in the five boroughs, Long Island and Pennsylvania. Tucky has opened for the likes of ACDC in a touring band, lived in Florida playing the circuit, and is a church sanctified musician. Val has a background in theater and a variety of musical genres from soul, to punk to blues to rock and folk and her vocal stylings are reminiscent of Axel Rose with a chaser of Janis Joplin. She's an award winning songstress, founder of New York City Women Who Rock and a New York City native. She has opened for and/or shared the stage with: Marty Balin, Chuck Negron,(Three Dog Night), Johnny Johnson, Dr. John, BB King, and most recently Danny Burns for his "North Country" Record Release at City Winery, NYC.
