Seattle Collaborative Orchestra concert: Musical Metamorphosis
Seattle Collaborative Orchestra's spring concert features works that were inspired by others, changing and metamorphosing the original into something new.
SCO is proud to give the world premiere of Leanna Primiani's "1001," a modern musical response to the epic tale of Scheherazade - this time from her perspective.
Also on the program are three 20th century works. One is a tone poem by Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas, who was inspired by a work by Cuba's national poet: Nicolás Guillén. Then, Paul Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphoses, the first work he wrote in the United States after being banned by Nazis in his homeland of Germany. The piece is based on themes by composer Carl Maria von Weber. Lastly, Seattle composer Walt Wagner's work "The Miracle" has four movements: Promise, Struggle, Faithfulness, and Fulfillment and was inspired by his personal Christian faith.
