THE BASICS of PEACEMAKING CIRCLES and FACILITATOR TRAINING
Circles foster a sense of community based on mutual respect with broad applications in many different contexts. This workshop will prepare participants to use talking circles within their own context: schools, youth-serving organizations, universities, corrections, social services, families, workplaces, faith organizations, and other communities.
DAY ONE & TWO: BASICS PEACEMAKING CIRCLE
The first two days will provide firsthand experiences in a peacemaking circle. Participants will learn about the underlying values of the peacemaking circle process, theoretical frameworks, essential components, and core assumptions and principles. practical applications utilizing the circle process. The experiential nature of this workshop requires attendance for both consecutive dates.
DAY THREE: FUNDAMENTALS FOR FACILITATING CIRCLES TRAINING
On the third day, participants will draw upon their experiences from the previous two days in the circle to learn the fundamentals for facilitating basic talking circles. They will explore the structure of the circle process, practical applications of the circle process, and how to initiate and facilitate the circle process.
PRE-REQUISITE: Some previous facilitation and/or teaching experience is preferred.
