PRAXIS: SHORE Construction Site Tour with Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects
AIA San Diego's Emerging Professionals Commission invites you to join us at Project SHORE, where project architects Andy Darragh and Dan Rosenberg of Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects will conduct a construction site tour and lead a discussion about the project's design and management.

Project SHORE exemplifies every architect's dream job: an owner at the perfect stage of development, a great site, a healthy (but not unlimited) budget, an innovative contractor, great engineering partners and enlightened leadership willing to explore the possibilities of Integrated Project Delivery. Nonetheless, the project has experienced the stops and starts inherent to large projects during unstable economic times in a risky market sector.
PRAXIS will discuss some of these challenges in the context of the design process, client service and business management including how FPBA won the job, built the team, chose a site, negotiated a fee, signed a contract, moved on-site and built its biggest BIM model ever. Attendees will also have an opportunity to walk the site and observe structural steel construction in progress.
Andy Darragh is one of two Principal Architects leading the Project SHORE design team and has been with FPBA for 23 years. He specializes in laboratory, office and manufacturing design for the life sciences, high-tech and clean technology sectors and relishes the complex challenges, permit processing and schedule demands presented by developing these projects in the Southern California coastal environment. Andy is a strong proponent of sustainable design and guides the team as they explore thoughtful solutions that preserve resources and maintain the facility's long-term value.
Dan Rosenberg AIA, Senior Associate, is the Project Manager and the lead Process Architect for FPBA on the SHORE project. Dan has also been with the firm for 23 years, where he has become a leader in many of the firm's most complex projects. His expertise in building code interpretation, design for hazardous materials, laboratory and manufacturing design provides FPBA's clients with exceptional guidance, problem solving and quality control.
