Made possible by the Stanley R. Epstein Fund at the Yiddish Book Center
In 1921, three young Polish Jewish women artists created one of the masterpieces of Jewish modernism. So why have they and their work been overlooked for almost a century? From a chance discovery in the Yiddish Book Center's vault, Center bibliographer David Mazower re-creates the extraordinary story of three innovative women fresh out of art school. On the fringes of the largely male "Young Yiddish" movement in Lodz, Poland, they came together to create their own remarkable legacy.
