Each month, the Maine Songwriters Association presents Songwriters on Stage, a showcase of some of the best songwriters Maine has to offer. The show typically features three seasoned performers and an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. Its an opportunity for listeners to discover new music or come hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. The March concert will feature three seasoned performers: Ronda Dale, Lynn Deeves, and Lark Cypress Holmes.
Ronda Dale loves singing and connecting with audience. Her heartfelt songs are filled with warmth, depth and humor. Originally from Virginia, she has lived in beautiful southern Maine for nigh on 16 years, with plenty of wandering in between. Ronda loves the round-robin format for sharing music and is grateful to be at Frontier and on stage with these other fine musicians.
Lynn Deeves honed her early musical and stage chops on the New England, high energy rock scene , releasing 4 independent CDs and receiving Maine Female Vocalist of the Year. Lynns original songs are infused with folk, blues, and gospel influences. Rich, soulful vocals combined with a sharp wit, and dynamic stage presence created a continually expanding NE fan base. The Portland Press Herald says "...5 star stage presence... this gal's got a set of pipes..." Deeves has opened for Cheryl Wheeler, Janis Ian, Catie Curtis, Ellis Paul, America and many others.
Lark Cypress Holmes, hailing from N.H., is a singer-songwriter, teacher, aspiring author, wannabe farmer, and mama lion to two sparkling children. Larks songwriting emerged from deep in the roots and mountains of her southern Appalachian heritage; as well as early influences in church pews resounding with African American gospel and her parents' turn table spinning Joni Mitchell's Blue until the needle wore down to a nub. As a songwriter, Lark is a tender truth teller and her vocals strong with graceful harmonies.
