In celebration of International Women's Day, Vashon Resettlement Committee invites women from the Middle East, women on Vashon Island, and friends for an experience of shared culture, empowerment and joy. This is a day-long retreat with opportunities for cooking and conversation, cultural exchange and artistic expressions. Explore and enjoy the resilience found in community with women, and our unique capacities as feminine activists in the world.
This event is for women ages 14 and older. Program includes:
* Cooking class with Jamila Aldahir * Art of Feminine Beauty with Safa Jneidi * "Poetry without Borders" with Merna Ann Hecht * Healing through Art-Making with Nancy Slater, Suzanna Leigh and Mary Rose * "Weaving Ourselves Together" with Suzanne Hubbard and Erin Durrett * Arabic conversation and writing * Discussion of Hijab and symbols of feminine empowerment * Syrian lunch and tea
