Swing Night with Amy Kucharik & Friends with Benefits
Kerrville New Folk winning songwriter and performer Amy Kucharik [/kuh-CHAR-ick/] energizes swing dance, folk festival and listening room audiences alike. Drawing from blues, folk and Vaudeville traditions and with a street-smart stagecraft honed in the subways of Boston, Amy transports her audience to a place both timeless and familiar, but nevertheless innovative. She tours and performs as a one-woman band with ukulele, foot percussion, mouth trumpet and harmonica, or with her Boston-based bands Friends With Benefits and Tiger Moan.

Combining poignant, witty lyricism and an infectious, danceable swing, Amys music has drawn comparisons to Maria Muldaur, Lake Street Dive, and Anais Mitchell. Amy was a formal showcase artist at SWRFA in 2015, WFMT Folk DJ Rich Warrens pick for the DJ showcase at NERFA in 2016, and was selected as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist for 2018. Her second full-length album of original music, "Until the Words Are Gone," was released worldwide on June 1, 2018.

"(Until the Words Are Gone) is my new favorite album... I love the eclectic instrumentation and wide range of styles. Surprise is a sure way to hook me and I was surprised on every cut."
- Ronny Cox, actor, singer-songwriter, and storyteller

"Combining a gorgeous voice with skilled ukulele playing and witty, finely crafted songs, Kucharik offers music and entertainment of the highest quality. It has been a pleasure including her on my radio show." - Lilli Kuzma, host/producer of "Folk Festival" (WDCB Chicago and radiowayne)

"Whether solo or with band, the superb musicianship and songwriting combined with stage presence that can only be earned is an experience not to miss."  - Tom Bianchi, host of the Burren Backroom Concert Series

"Somerville MAs Amy Kucharik and her ukulele  kinda stole the show... with the light, upbeat sounds of her instrument and voice against the dark humor of her lyrics, giving the crowd a good chuckle." - Texas Outside

Cunning Folk is "...an energetic and delightful CD." - The Noise

"(Kucharik) has a truly beautiful voice that is at the forefront on this record and her writing is clever, fun and intelligent." - Red Line Roots Music Blog

"Cunning Folk is packed with original songs more akin to front-porch blues... Im still kind of amazed that this CD exists. And if I didnt know better, Id fight anyone who suggested it was an independent production." - Tales From the Ragged Edge
