Kate Assiran
Kate Assiran is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia who is passionate about opening your ears to a truly unique sound. She will be accompanied at this show by Marla McCulloch on guitar and harmony vocals and Pat Burns on drums.
Assiran's style can be described as alternative acoustic rock with a bluesy edge. Her songwriting is inspired by her misadventures in life. She will take you on a musical journey through the bad drinking experiences and relationships of her 20s, to navigating adulthood and family life in Suburbia. Her songs are brutally honest, laced with sarcastic comedy.
Assiran is influenced by classic rock, Americana and folk music. She has been performing since the early 2000s. She fronted the original rock bands Katesbanned and Astronaut Jones. She has opened for Charlie Gracie, Mary Prankster and Brett Michaels. She has also played bass and sang harmonies with Philly's Showin Tell, who played SXSW and opened The Jager Tour at The Electric Factory.
Assiran is a Blind Pigeon recording artist. She has released two CDs: Katesbanned's, "Fates Gun" and Astronaut Jones' "Moon Worthy Rock 'n Roll." She also lent her original "Rockstar" to Showin Tell's 2007 CD "SNT," on which she played bass and sang harmony vocals.
