Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show, now in its 11th year. Produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and taking place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District, it showcases an eclectic, multicultural mix of intelligent comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. Geduldig created the event in 2008 order to bring back to life a comedy show that used to take place in the 1980s and 1990s at El Rio.
The Friday February 15th show features Karen Ripley, Eloisa Bravo, Nick Leonard, Nicole Tran, and Lisa Geduldig.
Karen Ripley a queer comic and improv master and has been featured on LOGO TV. She is a veteran of LGBT comedy and began her comedy career in 1977 (42 years ago!) in the heyday of the LGBT comedy movement in San Francisco. She has performed at hundreds of Pride events as well as The Fringe and Diva Festivals. Ripley recently premiered her one-woman show, Oh No, Theres Men On The Land to rave reviews at The Marsh Berkeley. She is currently working on her next show, Memories of Resistance. www.karenripley.com
Eloisa Bravo started her comedy career soon after she discovered she couldnt have children and a subsequent divorce. She holds nothing back and derives her material from real life, exploding with energy on stage. Youll notice her immediately for her Venezuelan accent and highly expressive performance, yet its the nature and intensity of her material that will stick with you, with its unique perspective on the issues affecting urban, single women. She comes with a voice that is unique in the world of comedy, eliciting strong reactions in audiences that leave surprised, because they had no idea what to expect. Packed with energy and cuteness she will make you laugh, assuming you are lucky enough to understand her. www.eloisabravo.com

He is the co-founder of the QComedy Showcase (currently on hiatus) and the popular Bilarious Show in the National Queer Arts Festival. Nick also performs regularly as his alter ego, Ginorma Desmond.
Nicole Tran has performed at great comedy venues including The Punchline and Cobbs and was a finalist at the Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition last year. She has studied acting and dancing. Nicole is originally from Vietnam and studied Vietnamese opera music at the age of 7.
