Joe Cocker Mad Dog with Soul
Joe Cocker, a former gas fitter from Sheffield, England, he spent several years performing in Sheffields pubs before getting a UK number one in 1968 with his soulful version of the Beatles song,A Little Help from My Friends. Then Cocker was catapulted to world stardom in 1969 at the Woodstock festival with his legendary performance there.
After the chaotic drug-fueled Mad Dogs And Englishmen tour of America in 1970, Joe Cocker returned to his parents home in Sheffield and lived there for months as a virtual recluse.
Slowly overcoming his struggles with alcohol and drugs in the 80s and 90s, he rebuilt his reputation as one of the great primal rock and roll vocalists of all time (Film contributor Billy Joels description).
The film mixes Joe Cockers own words with interviews with his family and friends, who provide an intimate, honest, sometimes painful account. Legendary songwriters and musicians he collaborated with Randy Newman, Jimmy Webb, Rita Coolidge, Chris Stainton and others also contribute to Joe Cockers story. The film has raw, electric performance footage throughout.
