Una Transformacion
Metamorphosis is an unapologetic act of faith.

Queer Trans People of Color journey around the topic of reclaiming and rebirthing spirituality within their queer communities through spoken word, poetry, and music. Witness how each artist crosses a rainbow bridge that interconnects sexuality and spirituality by embodying their own unique transformation.

La Espiritista's "Butterfly: Una Transformacion" is a celebration and pre-release show of their first self-published book of poetry. The show features original pieces and spoken word music from the book, as well as other QTPOC artists.

Both the book and show are invested in the healing arts and committed to creating messages of radical self-love, faith, and healing, especially for those in trans, queer, and POC communities.

"Butterfly: Una Transformacion" is about integration of past, present, and future, dark and light, masculine and feminine, spirituality and sexuality, and all in between. Both the show and book are divided into four sequences representing the four phases of metamorphosis. Each phase speaks about a distinct stage in the transformation process:

1. Releasing old wounds
2. Renewing loving joy
3. Retreating into our darkest selves
4. Rebirthing into a new being

"Butterfly: Una Transformacion" takes the audience through a journey of the natural cycle of life and the gifts that can ultimately arise through death. The show contains illustrations by Nur Shojai.
