Kitsap Beach Naturalist Training

The Kitsap Beach Naturalist training is for people who want to discover and explore our shorelines and the sea life that call them home. Nearly surrounded by water, the Kitsap Peninsula is the ideal place to learn about marine life like sea stars, clams, and crabs, as well as the birds, seaweeds, and plants that live on our beaches.
This 6-week class is open to the public, and is taught by local and regional experts. Some of the topics covered in the training include:
-Intertidal invertebrates and fish
-Salish Sea oceanography
-Seaweeds and eelgrass
-Local conservation projects
-Interpretation skills
After this training we will provide and connect you with opportunities to volunteer around Kitsap County. Kitsap Beach Naturalists volunteer at a wide range of events, including acting as a naturalist for community beach explorations and childrens field trips, conducting beach profiles, monitoring sea stars, and offering outreach at local events.
Early Bird Registration (before March 15th): $70
General Registration (after March 15th): $75
Date/Time: Thursday evenings April 4-May 9 from 6pm-9pm + 5 low tide field outings (Thu 4/11- 3:00-4:30; Sat 4/20- 11:30-1:00; Thurs. 4/25- 3:00-4:30; Sat. 5/4-10:30-Noon; Thurs. 5/9- 2:30-4:00)
Location: SEA Discovery Center, 18743 Front St NE, Poulsbo, Washington (Enter through the side door at the end of the parking lot)
