Mighty Girl at the Howland
The Howland Cultural Center, Beacon's premier Arts and Entertainment venue is pleased to present an encore performance of the Mighty Girl Band with Lena Fahringer (guitar and vocals), John Knowles (bass), Mark McNutt (guitar and vocals) and Bill Fahringer (drums.) Mighty Girl was formed in 2005 when Bill and Lena Fahringer teamed up with bassist Bob Torsello and kicked off a new musical project from the ashes of their previous band, Ghostvilla. In 2007, right before the release of Mighty Girl's first allbum 'Long Gone,' the band lost a fan but gained a lead guitarist in Mark McNutt. A singer-songwriter in his own right, Nashville cat, Mark McNutt also performs with singer-songwriter Elissa Jones and the Lost Ryders of the Waywayonda. In 2019, John Knowles, the original bass player of Ghostvilla. rejoined Lena and Bill as bassist for Mighty Girl, close to two decades later. John started his musical adventures in the jazz-rock fusion band Eggs, with guitarist Tom Jenkins and drummer Ray Levier. Bill and Lena first performed with Ghostvilla at Woodstock's 25th Anniversary Concert. Bill was the original drummer of the New York-based band, the Rawtones in the early 80's. Swedish-born singer-songwriter, Lena Fahringer, is the granddaughter of Finnish composer Harry Bergstrom. Advance tickets: $10 at mightygirl.brownpapertickets.com; at the door, $15. Please note: advance ticket sale ends on Friday, April 20th at 12:00 PM.
