Its been discussed for a while, but Mid-Market catalyst construction projects have finally arrived. Joy Ou of Group i and Meg Spriggs of Shorenstein discuss the 800 units of new housing and hotel that their transformative projects will bring to the Mid-Market neighborhood. MEG SPRIGGS
Meg Spriggs joined Shorenstein in 2013 and is responsible for overseeing multifamily housing transactions for the Shorenstein family. This includes sourcing and evaluating, as well as financing, acquiring, entitling, developing, managing and divesting of assets, and supporting other Shorenstein professionals in the evaluation and execution of mixed-use projects with a multifamily component. Ms. Spriggs has received recognition as an innovative and influential business leader, most recently she was among the San Francisco Business Times Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business for years 2014 and 2015, and in 2013 she was in the top 40 list for the Bay Areas brightest rising stars under the age of 40.
Ms. Spriggs is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, and the San Francisco Urban Planning and Research Association. Ms. Spriggs also serves on the board of directors for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and is a founding board member of ArtCare, in support of the public and civic arts programs of the San Francisco Arts Commission.
Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Spriggs was a vice president of development for AvalonBay Communities, Inc. where she was responsible for land acquisition, design, entitlement, and permitting, as well as oversight of the construction and lease-up of multifamily properties in the San Francisco Bay Area region.
JOY OU
As President and CEO of Group i, Joy Ou directs the ongoing growth and vision of Group i, overseeing all aspects of the company's real estate activities. Joys extensive and versatile design background imbues every Group i project with a unique combination of design-oriented solutions and idiosyncratic style. With a diverse portfolio of high-performing projects, Joy has developed a dedicated following among design enthusiasts, financing institutions and investors alike.
Joy is extensively involved in philanthropy and volunteer activities, both locally and abroad, serving on the board of directors of the San Francisco Art Institute and the Wildflowers Institute, and in an advisory capacity for the Luggage Store Gallery and Global Heritage Fund. She also actively supports San Francisco's Chinatown Community Development Center and several Tenderloin youth organizations. In addition, Joy serves as Executive Director of Ou Jong Fa Foundation in Taiwan and is a past Board of Trustee for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
