Justin Nash Fisher & Friends Presents 2 nights of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - A Tribute to David Bowie. Tonight featuring the indie rock juggernaut Hallelujah The Hills.

Following the sold-out tribute to Abbey Road at the Lizard Lounge last October, Cambridge-based musician Justin Nash Fisher will be following the success of his first tribute with a two night performance of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars at the Lizard Lounge on Friday March 15th and Saturday March 16th. Joined by a group of seasoned musicians in Bostons music scene, including Boston Music Award winner Aubrey Haddard, Fisher will pay tribute to David Bowies triumph in the only way anyone could: in high fashion.

Hallelujah The Hills have been releasing critically acclaimed albums and touring the U.S. since 2007. Described by Spin as criminally under appreciated and lauded by Pitchfork for their fist pumping anthems, they've been declared Boston  legends in their hometown and as having a cult following and pockets  of hardcore fans scattered throughout the country by Stereogum.

ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS
When David Bowie returned home from tour the Christmas of 1972, he was the biggest and brightest star in the universe. Wild, rabid fans went to many extremes to gain his attentionmany would attempt climbing through open windows of his home, one crazed fan even attempted to abduct his son Zowie off the streetbut Bowie rarely retreated from the insanity. Instead he greeted the chaos with a wink, allotting endless time for his fans to sign autographs and allowing the possessed to kiss his boots. But over time, Ziggy Stardust, the androgynous, bisexual extraterrestrial of his own creation, had manifested into a living, breathing entity. If only freedom did not yield such destruction.

Bowie began to have trouble separating the man and the character. Ziggy wouldnt leave me alone for years, he said. My whole personality was affected. It became very dangerous. I really did have doubts about my sanity. The global reach of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars had turned Bowie into a being that required more energy than he could provide. His perspective became darker, more shrouded in hard drugs and volatile sexual energy, an attempt to rid his body of the symbiosis. And yet, Ziggy Stardust was the album David Bowie needed to make. And so he wrote.

The scene: a civilization that has discovered they have five years left before earths demise. The androgynous rock and roll alien Ziggy Stardust comes to Earth, seducing nearly everyone in his path, accumulating a hoard of disciples while leading the human race to salvation. During the climactic finale of Rock and Roll Suicide, the infinites arrive on Earth and tear Ziggy to pieces on stage.

Buried in the absurdites is a story of overcoming fear, although its not about the fear of facing the worst parts of our planet, but the fear of facing the worst parts of ourselves. The controversial nature of Ziggy Stardust elicits as much hate, fear, and misunderstanding as it does love, compassion, and liberation. Where you lie on the spectrum is an indicator of your philosophical being.

Labeling Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars as simply glam rock doesnt give it the credit it deserves. Ziggy Stardust is musical theater, leaping and bounding from musical styles with a cheeky ease. Bowie tried everything on Ziggy Stardust1950s R&B shuffle, proto-punk, drag queen balladryand everything stuck. And of course, Ziggy Stardust wouldnt have been what it was if it werent for the reliable Spiders from Mars, Mick Woody Woodmansey on drums, Trevor Bolder on bass, and the unmatched Mick Ronson on lead guitar.
