Learn about logo basics, tips for working with graphic designers, tools for building DIY websites, and effective social media strategies. Participants will see examples of well-designed brands in action and understand what makes them successful.
About Kelly Okumura: Kelly is the Farm to Table program manager at Farmstand Local Foods, a hyper local food hub providing marketing, aggregation, and distribution support to small-scale farms in the Snoqualmie, Sammamish, and Snohomish valleys. Prior to that, Kelly spent a year partnering with farmer friend Shawn Miller to launch Tuk Muk Farm, a 1.5 acre regenerative farm specializing in Asian veggies grown alongside pastured chickens and pigs. Before she found her way to farming, Kelly worked for over 20 years as a graphic designer and ran her own design business for much of that time. She has a unique point of view with one foot in the world of marketing and one in the world of agriculture, and she hopes to support local farmers in harnessing the power of brand to advance their businesses.
About Micha Ide: Micha Ide owns Bright Ide Acres, a farm dedicated to producing ethically raised meat including broiler chickens, heritage turkeys, pork, and lamb. Micha is entering her seventh season farming, and her sixth as a farm owner. Previously located on leased land in Snohomish, Bright Ide Acres moved to its very own 30 acre farm in Orting, Pierce County in late 2017. Prior to farming Micha worked for a biotech company in San Diego, where she honed her skills in customer service, marketing, and sales. Bright Ide Acres has developed a loyal following of customers, and Micha will demonstrate some of the marketing techniques she uses for the farm including harnessing the potential of social media.
