When people tell me love stories they usually mention the first kiss (not the desperation). The first time they knew (not the fear of dying alone). I wish we could talk more about our fear of dying alone. I wish we could be more honest.

ALOK is a gender non-conforming writer and performance artist. They were recently the youngest recipient of the Live Works Performance Act Award granted to ten performance artists across the world. They have presented their work at 400 venues in more than 40 countries.

Alok Vaid-Menon is a gender non-conforming writer and performance artist. They were recently the youngest recipient of the Live Works Performance Act Award granted to ten performance artists across the world. They have presented their work at 400 venues in more than 40 countries.

Dora Silva Santana is a black Brazilian trans woman warrior, scholar, activist, artist, storyteller of experiences embodied in language and flesh.  She is currently working on a few writing endeavors: her book titled  Trans* Stellar Knot-works on the connections of black trans women in the diaspora; and on her memoir, on the use of her imagination to as black trans child in the northern of Brazil and the transformative process of revisiting those experiences as an adult artist/scholar.. She has been an artist-in-residence for allgo, a queer people of color organization in Austin -TX, in 2018 and 2017. In 2018, she released her watercolor paintings on an exhibit titled Trans* Stellar Visions. In 2017, she presented her solo Performance titled Minha Filha! A black trans daughterhood. Connecting with communities that assure the survival and thriving especially of trans people of color in situations of vulnerability by creating possibilities of dismantling intersecting oppressive systems such as anti-blackness, transphobia, classism, and xenophobia is what moves her.

Una Aya Osato aka exHOTic other aka Norms is a performer, writer and educator from NYC. Shes been featured in the New York Times, HuffPost, MSNBC. Unas been performing for over three decades. And shes been writing, performing, and producing her award-winning original work for over fourteen years, performing nationally and internationally for tens of thousands of people in theaters, festivals, universities, conferences, community organizations, classrooms, and prisons. She is also a co-founder of the renowned troupe brASS: Brown RadicalAss Burlesque, who have monthly show called "Compost Bin!" www.UnaOsato.com

ELSZ is a producer, vocalist, and harpist based between Sydney, Colombo, and Brooklyn. Her music moves between soulful avant pop & experimental R&B. Her distinctive productions, lyrical elegance, and evocative live shows have reached audiences worldwide.

This performance is part of ALOK's "STRANGERS ARE POTENTIAL FRIENDS" residency at THE INVISIBLE DOG ART CENTER.
