This hands-on workshop - open to all - is based on our popular 10-day intensive, covering oral history theory, method and practice. Over the course of the weekend, we'll address interview techniques, recording tutorials, ethics, memory, annotation and experimental outcomes. Come all ye documentarians, journalists, artists, media-makers, educators and those looking to learn new things in good company! No experience necessary.

SCHEDULE: Saturday, March 9 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday, March 10 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The workshop is sequential, and the second day builds upon the first. Please plan to be in attendance for the entirety of the two day workshop. This is the same workshop we offered in Fall 2018 over 2.5 days, but adjusted to two full days to accommodate a wider range of work schedules.

COST:
Tuition covers instruction, snacks, e-reader and other resources, plus access to alumni newsletter/network, and use of OHSS recording equipment during the workshop. We will serve a light breakfast and coffee/tea, both mornings.
Please note: Due to small class size, OHSS is unable to provide refunds for any reason. Tuition is non-refundable and is not transferrable upon withdrawal or cancellation.
In the unlikely case that we need to cancel due to extreme weather, the workshop will be rescheduled for the following weekend. If you decide not to attend a workshop due to weather conditions, but the workshop has not been cancelled by us, our standard cancellation terms apply.
This workshop is offered with sliding scale tuition, with a limited number of tickets available at the discounted rate. Thank you for choosing the level which best describes your situation.
Discounted Tuition - $350 (8 tickets available) I am a student, teacher or full-time caregiver; I have a fixed or limited income and would not be able to attend this workshop without paying the lower rate.
Standard Tuition - $425 I am employed full-time and/or have other access to resources; tuition is not a significant barrier to me attending this workshop.
Institutional Tuition/Supporter -$525 My organization, university, or employer is paying for my tuition; funds are not an obstacle for me to attend this training; I want to support OHSS and am able to pay a higher price for the workshop.
Tuition is used to cover a range of expenses including space rental, materials, food, administrative support, instruction hours, associated travel fees, equipment purchases, insurance and more. Thank you for being part of Oral History Summer School, now in four seasons!
