His second child arrived when he was 46.What happened in between comes under scrutiny in his comedy acts.

Crowds can't help but be drawn in by his All-American looks and childlike charm as he shares his bizarre and sometimes twisted thoughts. Steven Wright said of Paul, "Hilarious. I tried to remember a joke he did so I could tell him I liked it, but then he'd do another one that was funnier and I forgot the first joke I wanted to mention to him. Vermont native E.J. Murphy has played top clubs all over, and has built a reputation as one of the Northeast's consistently funny comedy acts while developing into one of Boston's new headliners. His comedy has appeared on MSN's home page, Sirius XM and Rooftop Comedy's daily 8. He has performed at The Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival, and advanced multiple times in The Boston Comedy Festival. He also appeared in The Comedy Central Laugh Riots, and has even opened for Styx. His Vermont upbringing helped him form his unique perspective, which blends with an onstage friendliness to make him a hit with all audiences.
