Phipps Family Cellars Wine Dinner
About the Winemaker: Andy Phipps is a third-generation Californian who had his passion for all things wine spike during a semester abroad in France. Two short years later, Andy met the Cellar Master at Beaulieu Vineyard, during one of his many day trips to the Napa Valley, and was offered a position as a General Winery Worker. Andy worked in the cellar, laboratory, on the crush pad & bottling line, and, briefly, under André Tchelistcheff, aka the Maestro, on experimental lots during Andrés final year consulting and until his passing in 1994. This experience taught Andy the history & fundamentals of classic winemaking, attention to detail & cleanliness and the art of blending. In short, the BV Cellar taught him everything that he could possibly learn about grape-to-table fine wine production.
After his various production roles, Andy transferred to work as a Trade Representative for the BV Hospitality Center & Georges de La Tour Private Reserve Room. He then joined the national sales team, as a Sales Development Analyst, where he learned distributor management, out-of-state market management and sales forecasting & analysis. He then began to embark on the path of creating his very own, Phipps Family Cellars.
About the Winery: Phipps Family Cellars is a boutique winery that was founded in 2004 with a desire to create small lot wines from coveted vineyards for memorable occasions. They produce ultra-premium wines from the finest vineyards in the Napa & Sonoma Valleys. The focus of Phipps Family Cellars is to source fruit from a variety of appellations that express unique qualities in the wines produced from them. They are known for their small lot Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and a proprietary white we call Mélange Blanc.
