Larry Hanks and Deborah Robins with Special Guest, Steven Strauss
American Songsters Larry Hanks and Deborah Robins sing old songs. Known as a folksingers folksinger, Hanks has been performing to delighted festival and club audiences (Fox Hollow, Mariposa, The Portable Folk Festival, The Old Town School of Folk Music, et al) for over 50 years. Now touring with his wife and musical partner, Larrys mellifluous bass-baritone voice combines with the eclectic close harmonies of Deborahs resonant alto, bringing back to life a large repertoire of songs describing trials and traditions of American life. On the heels of their warmly-received 1st duo album, "No Hiding Place", and 2nd acclaimed duo CD chock full of "brand spankin' OLD" songs, "OLD DAYS", they proudly present their 3rd duo CD, The Wheel of Time --including familiar favorites and many surprises. For the legendary San Francisco Bay Area favorite, Larry Hanks, this tour commemorates 50 years of live performance.
"This is why I got into folk music to begin with. [Hanks & Robins] are the best live folk music performance in recent memory!" -- Michael Cooney, One Man Folk Festival
Steven Strauss is an undisputed master of the ukulele as a melody-forward SOLO lead (as opposed to solely rhythm). Presenting the instrument as a unique voice, audiences "forget they're listening to a ukulele", as his precision brings a transcendence to the instrument. His influence can be felt far and wide amongst West Coast acolytes, who clamor to hear an eclectic mix of jazz and traditional standards, played with precision in his sparse and thoughtful arrangements. http://www.songwriter.com/strauss/index.php
