Live at Studio5: BEN LEWIS
Ben Lewis, piano Jeremiah Hunt, bass Jon Deitemyer, drums guest vocalists: Typhanie Monique & Matt Lewis
This incredible pianist makes a return trip to our stage in a special concert about Time exploring its dynamic connection to our lives through music.
Ben and this talented group of artists will explore how music has the power to slow time down to wrap us in a singular moment, or magically transport us back to some distant memory. There are so many wonderful songs that evoke the sense of bewilderment we sometimes feel with the passage of time, and others that playfully remind us to appreciate the moments we should treasure. This concert will be one of them!
*** For those purchasing a ticket in advance: Think of a song that for you is a veritable time machine, taking you back to a specific moment in your life that is meaningful in some way. If you wish to share your story and song choice with Ben, please send it to benlewispiano@gmail.com, and he will pick 2 to 3 songs from those submitted to arrange and perform for you!
ABOUT THE GROUP
Ben Lewis, "one of the best kept secrets in Chicago (Mark Ruffin Listen Here! Radio) has twice toured as a Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department and recorded with such Chicago luminaries as Matt Ulery, Grazyna Auguscik, Typhanie Monique and Tito Carillo.
As a founding member and Musical Director for the Lt. Dan Band with actor/bassist Gary Sinise, he's traveled the world performing for troops, veterans and their families. Howard Reich (Chicago Tribune) says his shimmering pianism and go-for-broke energy are just part of what give Lewis such a singular voice. Check out the video link and then come hear him for yourself!
Completing the trio will be drummer Jon Deitemyer and bassist Jeremiah Hunt. Vocalist Typhanie Monique, also a return-performer to Studio5, and Bens fraternal twin, Matt Lewis, will also be on hand to add their tremendous voices to the evening.
Join us. We'll be recording this performance for Chicago Jazz Live on WDCB, so you'll be part of the studio audience!
Cash bar, light snacks, free parking right outside. Doors open for cocktails at 7:30.
