Matt Price: Broken Hooters And Geezers With Shooters
Matt Price was asked to work on a writing project with a former criminal. From day one, he was out of his depth...
Matt ("Fearlessly funny" **** The Scotsman) has been to a high profile criminal's funeral and stood outside the church with a biker gang and a 'body guard' who had learning difficulties. He once played monopoly with a Russian drug dealer and was sent an ill fitting stab proof vest and a spoon through the post.
As Steve Bennett from Chortle said, Matt Price is "a genuine, ordinary guy spinning some yarns, extraordinary in their telling" **** On the surface at six foot three and twenty stone, Matt looks as though he may blend into the criminal underworld quite well, until he blows his cover by speaking.
This is a show about learning your limitations and embracing them. It's about facing fears. It's about realising that actually, not being a tough guy isn't such a bad thing after all. Sometimes it's sensible to run away. Some people travel to Nepal or India to try and find themselves. Matt spent hundreds of hours at a retired criminal's house, mixing with people that he never even knew existed.
He doesn't have that many answers as to why people do bad things. But he has a lot of stories and he's learned a lot too.
"I don't understand why he isn't better known" ***** One4Review
Matt Price has been a professional comedian for over ten years and has performed in 30 countries, including 4 tours of Australia. He is a versatile performer who tells a great yarn, usually from the wilder side of life, but one that will make you laugh. He is not a geezer and his hooter remains unbroken.
"Storytelling comedy, necessitates a level of honesty I like. And Price is one of the best at it around" - Scotland on Sunday
