Three Tall Women
The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre will open its latest production "Three Tall Women" on July 12th. The Pulitzer Prize winning play was written by Edward Albee and is considered his best and most personal play. This work has been called the "best, most riveting play this American playwright has given us." Albee himself has said "I am always astonished by the response to this play to the amount of enthusiasm for it." The play was also awarded the Drama Critics Circle Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award. It was originally produced in 1994 at Vienna's English Theatre in Vienna, Austria. "Albee offers a new play so good it can only exist on the stage. A perfect illustration of why theater is an indispensable art." The New York Times.
"Three Tall Women" is an electrifying examination of our ability to go on. In this haunting and sometimes hilarious play, we meet three women facing and embracing life's changes and passages. It is a truthful and funny look at the arc of life from perspectives of three different genres a woman in her youth, one woman in middle age, and one woman near the end of her life. As each woman's identity is revealed, we discover the true genius of Albee.
The show is directed by Larry Clark and is produced by Cheryl Grace. The cast includes Cheryl Grace as "A", Ginger Schmidt as "B", Liz Barnes as "C", and as "A" in Act Two are Zita Waller, Dovey Mayes, and Camille Tate.
Set construction and design is lead by Dean Noel. Light and sound are managed by Charles Dessommes. Costumes are created by Daryl Himel and Darlene Holtgreve.
The show dates and times are July 12, 13, 19, and 20 at 8pm and July 14 and 21 at 2pm. Doors open one hour before the show and seating starts 30 minutes before each show.
