Carpool from Cupertino with Slow Food friends on June 29th 8:45AM-4Pm to tour the innovative ALBA training and education farm near Salinas and its ALBA Organics packing house in Watsonville.
ALBA (the Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association) incorporated as a locally governed cooperative in 2001 and helps limited-resource and aspiring farmers with information, capital, and land.
MEET AT MONTA VISTA MARKET parking lot (behind the store) at 8:45 a.m. 21666 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino, CA (at Imperial Avenue, across from Cupertino post office)
Bring a picnic lunch (or buy items at Monta Vista Market), a hat, sunscreen, and sturdy shoes
Carpool* and meet new friends as you tour ALBAs farm in Salinas and their packing house in Watsonville
Lunch with farmers and hear about their farming techniques
Drive to Watsonville to tour Alba Organics refrigerated packing house. (A lined jacket and full length pants will make your packing house cooler experience more enjoyable.)
Return to Cupertino via Hwy 1 & 17
Arrive back at Monta Vista Market at 4 p.m.
