Art Deco Society of Los Angeles Annual Meeting 2019
The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles holds a meeting every January, to recap the organization's progress over the past year in the preservation arena, to introduce board members, discuss upcoming activities and more.
After the annual meeting, there is a program on Los Angeles' Alexandria Hotel, home of the "Million Dollar Carpet" with Craig Owens. The one hour lecture will be followed by a screening of several silent films featuring talent that frequented the hotel in the silent film era.
Members of ADSLA who attend the annual meeting can attend the lecture for free with RSVP. You must attend the annual meeting to get a complimentary admission to the program.
The annual meeting is at 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM in the small theater at the Egyptian and the lecture and film are in the big theatre starting at 2 PM.
The film and lecture are open to the public and tickets can be purchased online or at the box office if you have additional friends who wish to attend that portion of the event.
Author Craig Owens illustrated presentation on Los Angeles' first five-star hotel includes tales of wild parties, backroom deals, strange deaths. The talk will be followed by silent shorts made by luminaries who frequented the Alexandria Hotel including Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin and Mack Sennett. There will also be a booksigning.
