PROGRAM NOTES: MiraCosta Community College District, Oceanside, CA: Measure MM Bond Program
A $455M bond program that will allow the MiraCosta Community College District to implement its Facilities Master Plan at all three of the District's campuses (Community Learning Center, Oceanside and San Elijo) and construct career training facilities for science, nursing, health care, engineering and skilled trades; improve job training, counseling and support services for veterans; modernize instructional technology in math, science and technology; repair or replace leaky roofs, worn-out floors, outdated restrooms, faulty electrical systems and deteriorating plumbing lines; and improve access for students with disabilities.
SPEAKER BIOS:
Tom Macias joined MiraCosta Community College District in March 2004 as the district's Director of Facilities. His responsibilities include facilities oversight and management of the district's $455M Measure MM program, capital planning and construction, maintenance and operations, grounds, custodial services, transportation, environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, safety compliance, industrial hygiene, recycling and fire prevention. Tom's 30 years of senior management experience also includes positions held at NCR, National Steel and Shipbuilding, Northern Telecom and Callaway Golf Company. A native of Denver, Colorado, Tom is a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Occupational Health. He is a State of California Registered Environmental Assessor 05262 (REA).
Geoff Bachanas directs the Prop. MM Bond program. With over 14 years' experience, there is not a single aspect of a capital improvement program and/or project for which Geoff does not possess first-hand knowledge. Geoff's experience includes leading and directing diverse program and project teams, as well as consistent success in administering large multi-million dollar capital improvement programs. Geoff's attention to detail and desire to deliver extraordinary results are why clients and colleagues want to work with him. He exhibits an in-depth understanding of all facets of the industry from master planning, development of master budgets and schedules, consultant procurement, pre-design, design management, bid and award coordination, construction management and closeout. In addition, Geoff is known for managing complex programs and projects within the public eye that require consistent communication and effective leadership.
