ACRONYM
ACRONYM presents Dreams of the Wounded Musketeer
An imperial military trumpeter, a member of the Kameradschaft, has been shot. Dying, the musician-musketeers life in Vienna passes before his eyes, a hazy dream. In his fever, he recalls the madness of the music from his childhood as the dissonant seconda prattica arrived north of the Alps. He thinks of the swirling wildness of the stylus phantasticus that characterizes the music of his adult years. He remembers the battle that brought him here, and he ascends to heaven.
Works from Biber, Schmelzer, Valentini, Bertali, Poglietti, Pezel, Drese and Capricornus.
Each moment kept being more striking than the last in a splendid concert by this 12-member period string group.
