Beginners Improv: Spontaneity

The Nursery offer a broad-based training that approaches improv in four different ways in the four different core modules. These six-week courses and weekend intensives concentrate on spontaneity, emotion, character and storytelling. You can take anyone alone, pick your way through them, or do all four back to back for a comprehensive grounding in the core skills of improv.

This course takes place over 6 Thursdays from 7pm-9.30pm

SPONTANEITY
Thinking too much can get in your way, stifling creativity and happiness and even endangering relationships. Maybe you want to be more spontaneous and relaxed in everyday life, maybe you want to handle a team better and maybe you want to be more confident. In this module, you will concentrate on responding simply and easily to what is going on around you, finding the delight, productivity and the humour in just doing. You will also learn to support and delight in other improvisers ideas and not worry too much about the why of what you are doing and saying, just enjoying yourselves together. You will work with gentle forms of physical and scenic improvisation to get out of your head and lose yourself in what is happening.
